MID DEVON’S ANNUAL 10K CANAL WALK & RUN – IN AID OF CHILDREN’S CHARITY
Mid Devon’s most picturesque beauty spot is playing host to a 10K walk and run, and a massive Family Festival next month – in aid of a charity that supports children and young people with cancer.
The event is taking place at the Tiverton Canal basin to Stampford Peverell on the 14th July, and culminates in a Family Festival once walkers and runners reach the finish line – where local bands, market stalls, exotic creatures, face-paints, inflatable obstacle course, and lots of other children’s entertainment are being planned, says coordinator Theresa Benson.
Theresa Benson, said: “Last year we raised nearly £17K for CLIC Sargent which supports children and young people with cancer and their families. We are hoping to raise £20K this year in one of Devon’s most picturesque walk and run events.”
“Runners leave at 10am in groups of 30, and walkers will be leaving at 10:30am. There’s even the chance to win a trophy for the biggest group entered.”
Devon businesswoman Theresa Benson runs an international online advertising company called Adopstar that works with clients across the globe, and its HQ is based in Cullompton. Theresa is also a Board of Trustee at ETS Training in Exeter, and a fundraiser for CLIC Sargent since 2015.”
Theresa, added: “Our team of volunteers have worked very hard in planning this year’s showcase, and we’ve lined up a shuttle bus from Cullompton to Tiverton, and Stampford Peverell back to Cullompton thanks to Dartline Coaches and Workforce South West Limited. Pre-registered participants will get priority passes to jump on this shuttle service first,” she said.
