GAY FESTIVAL ON PLYMOUTH HOE
THOUSANDS of people are expected to attend a Gay Pride festival on Plymouth Hoe this summer, says Alan Butler of Pride in Plymouth.
The outdoor showcase on Saturday 9th August, from 12:30pm to 8:30pm, will include free musical entertainment by local artists and entertainers, businesses, food and trade stalls, community and voluntary groups promoting services and advice shops.
Mr Butler, from Pride in Plymouth, said: “Being the far South West’s biggest city, its time we put on a festival not just for our diverse and gay groups, but also for the wider community to enjoy in a great family day out.”
“Pride in Plymouth held its first two festivals at Devonport Park in 2012 and 2013, and Pride in Plymouth volunteers are ambitious to develop the showcase as one of the region’s biggest annual events, and celebrating diversity – in one of the world’s most amazing waterfront cities.”
Kevin Kelway, PR coordinator, said: “We are looking for support from local businesses that would like to take part, and a great way for employers to show how much they value diversity, and a fun city festival.”

About Pride in Plymouth
Pride in Plymouth is a non-profit community organisation that brings people and groups together to celebrate and promote the diversity that exist within the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans communities in Plymouth.
The information, advice and support made available through our events and the pride in Plymouth network with our website, allows us to advance community education so we can work together to eliminate discrimination.
We are more than a single event – and work all year in the city collaborating with supportive organisations and supporting campaigns that improve the lives of LGBT people locally, regionally, and reminding everyone that our community is in all walks of life, and we count too.
